Internal Communications is a relatively new profession. Communicating and communicating well, however, is not a new need. Since the birth of the very first organisation communication has been a primary mechanism for delivering efficiency and effectiveness.
IC:UK 2006/7 builds on previous research by The Work Foundation into the hidden or intangible factors of productivity and performance. These intangible factors included communications, but that report left many holes in our understanding of exactly how such factors were utilised in the myriad situations encountered by organisations day-to-day.
